Industrial Drum Heating Oven
We have Drum Heating Oven system design and installation experience with over 30 years collective know-how from our internal design and manufacturing teams. Our systems are BS EN ISO 2001 accredited. Many materials and substances used in today's manufacturing industries only become viscous at or above room temperature, notably sugars, surfactants, resins, oils, fats and a variety of chemicals.
These materials present manufacturers in the food, pharmaceutical, adhesives, composites industries etc. with a number of challenges such as
- Without heating, the product cannot be discharged quickly enough from the drum into the manufacturing process.
- To keep production flowing, it is often necessary to replace the drum before it is completely empty, meaning product is wasted or returned to its supplier.
- Alternative systems to the use of a Drum Heating Oven can create hot spots that can burn the product inside. Heated drums that are not stored in a controlled and secure environment can cause a health and safety hazard when hot.
- Accurate temperature control is difficult when using other methods for heating drums such as: band heaters, jacket heaters, immersion heaters - due to the small surface area being heated at any one time and the lack of good insulation.
Using a Drum Heating Oven answers all these problems because
- Without heating, the product cannot be discharged quickly enough from the drum into the manufacturing process.
- Heating the drums uniformly greatly reduces the product viscosity; thereby improving flow and reducing decant time.
- The yield is significantly improved, with virtually no product being left behind inside the drum, thereby reducing raw material costs.
- Energy consumption is kept to a minimum by the incorporation of high efficiency insulation material into the Drum Heating Ovens construction.
- The even temperature distribution eliminates hot spots and the temperature can be easily controlled to suit the users needs.
- Multiple quantities of drums from as few as four and up to thirty-two or more can be safely and secured stored at the optimum temperature for as long as is required.
On many sites, such as those found in the Chemical and Petro-Chemical industries, the location where the Drum Heating Oven is to be positioned is often designated as a hazardous zone, as defined in EN60079-10. For these Drum Heating applications the Ovens have to be designed and rigorously constructed inline with the ATEX directive 94/9/EC - 'Equipment intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres'.

Particular care should be taken when purchasing a Drum Heating Oven for these applications so as to ensure that the manufacturer is fully aware of the ATEX requirement and has had previous experience in supplying suitably rated Ovens and associated control equipment.
Heated by either natural gas, LPG, electricity, steam or hot water Drum Heating Ovens have been found to be the most economical and practical solution for the safe storage of either 210 litre drums and/or 1,000 litre IBC's, (Intermediate Bulk Containers), at elevated temperatures.
Airflow Drum and IBC Heating Ovens
The Airflow range of standard Drum and IBC Heating Ovens can hold between four and thirty-two 210 litre drums. Custom-built Ovens extend the Airflow range up to and including one hundred and twenty 210 litre drum capacity.
Suitable for all types of drum and IBC heating applications the range of Airflow Ovens can be manufactured for either internal or external location. Drum storage in a heating Oven removes the need for drum heating bands, drum heating jackets or immersion heaters.
Heated by natural gas, LPG, electricity, steam or hot water, Airflow Drum heating Ovens are available in either standard construction or ATEX rated. Optional additional features include the supply of drum racks, IBC racks, bunded bases, forklift crash barriers & real time data logging.
